Life @ DoMS NIT Trichy

FIRST YEAR (2017-2019):

Right from their induction, the 39th batch of DoMS-NITT have been engaged in a plethora of activities, ranging from club activities to workshops and guest lectures.

FIRM Games:

The FIRM games is a management cum sports intradepartmental event of DoMS organized with the intent of serving as an icebreaker between seniors and juniors. Students being segregated into Falcons, Invincibles, Rudras and Morpheus, get to showcase their athletic, managerial and team-building skills in order to compete for the coveted trophy. Team Morpheus was declared as the winners of FIRM games 2017, with team Falcons being the runners-up.

Freshers’ Day celebrations:

As per the tradition of DoMS, Freshers’ day celebrations are held every year, which acts as another platform to put their talents on display and also in getting to know their peers better. Tulasi Brahma and Dinesh Rajamuthu were crowned Ms Fresher and Mr Fresher for the year 2017 respectively. Teachers’ Day celebrations: The Teachers’ Day celebrations were held with great fervour. Activities were held to engage and entertain the teachers as well as the seniors.

Club Activities:

The inauguration and inductions for Nisadhya (Marketing Club), Vittiya (Finance Club), OpEx (Operations Club), Persona (HR Club) and Analytica (Analytics Club) were conducted.

Workshops:

A workshop on MS Excel for Statistics was conducted by Mr Aswin Kumar, Adobe Systems.

Achievements:

Within a short span of time, the students have participated and excelled in various fests such as the Heber Fest (Bishop Heber College), Festember’17 (NITT) and Tarang’17 (SoMS-NIT Calicut), winning the overall championship trophy at Tarang for the second time in a row. There has also been active participation in Google Startup Weekend, with students securing second and third place.

SECOND YEAR (2016-2018)

The 38th batch of DoMS-NITT has an intense year, with their own share of guest lectures, club activities and workshops. The students have won laurels in events outside and inside DoMS. Research papers have been authored by several students.

Farewell 2017:

The 37th Batch of DoMS-NITT were given a fitting farewell by the 38th Batch. Various events and games were conducted to celebrate the bond between the seniors and the juniors.

Research papers:

Praveen SV of 2nd Year MBA has published a paper titled “Shakespeare- The Brand” in the “International Journal of Emerging Research in Management & Technology”, Vol. 6, Issue-8.

Tryambak Chatterjee authored Research Paper titled “Prediction of Survivors in Titanic Dataset: A Comparative Study using Machine Learning Algorithms” has been published in the “International Journal of Emerging Research in Management and Technology”, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2017.

Tryambak Chatterjee and Aditi Shukla authored Research Paper titled “Consumer Preferences to Specific Features in Mobile Phones: A Comparative Study” has been published in the “International Journal of Emerging Research in Management and Technology”, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2017.

Surendheran R, Monisha Ravi authored Research paper titled “Application of Logistic Regression model to determine the Academic Performance of MBA Students of Department of Management Studies, NIT Tiruchirappalli” has been published in the “International Journal Of Management & Business Studies (IJMBS)”, Volume 7, Issue 2, April-June 2017.

Tryambak Chatterjee authored Research Paper titled “Meta-heuristics for solving nurse scheduling problem: A comparative study” has been published in the⁠⁠⁠⁠ “Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Digital Library”, November 2016.

Workshops:

A workshop on Tally was conducted by Mr Avinci Krishna, Auditor.

A bootcamp on Business Analysis and IT Consultancy was held by Mr Sivakumar S, BNP Paribas, Mr Patrick Godwin, TCS, Mr Varun Keshari, CTS and Mr Sivashankar A, Navitas Life Sciences.

A workshop on R language was conducted by Mr Renold Devaraj from Group M.

Achievements:

At DoMS, students are offered wide opportunities to explore their skills and showcase them at various events. Our students have been successful at various managerial fests such as Progyan’16 (Sastra University), Vista’16 (IIM Bangalore), Varchasva’16 (IIM Lucknow), Dhruva’16 (IIM Trichy), Backwaters’16 (IIM Kozhikode) and Pragyan’17 (NIT Trichy).
