MBA

The MBA programme in DoMS-NIT Trichy follows a trimester pattern which imparts in-depth knowledge in the crosscuts of all academic areas. It pools together resources from every functional area. The emphasis is more on application of management principles and techniques in modern business through continuous industrial interactions and highlights decision making for controlling and applying management concepts.

The projects and the assignments undertaken as part of the programme help the budding managers and entrepreneurs in individual betterment with due emphasis on team work. The course work comprises core subjects and electives. While the core subjects help the students prepare for advanced study in their areas of interest, the electives focus on extending their depth and understanding of theoretical concepts.

A two-month internship at the end of first year gives the students hands on experience about the application of theory in the live working environment helping them to integrate theory with practice.

Programme Structure
Leadership, persuasive communication and critical thinking are the abilities that define MBA of 21st century. It is one thing to be technically competent and to have a wonderful idea, it is quite another to implement it efficiently. Leadership skills make the difference. The programme is meant to awaken the leadership qualities.

Pedagogy
The pedagogy is a balanced approach comprising of technical inputs and group tasks.

  • Classroom inputs - Aided by the state-of-the-art equipment, focused emphasis is given towards building a strong foundation.
  • Guest lectures - Eminent professionals from the industry share their experiences and enable the aspiring students to broaden their vision.
  • Live cases and models - Most of the learning is through case presentations enabling the students to implement the acquired skills. With live cases one learns how to think in cross-functional terms.
  • Industrial visits and seminars - The students take non-credit seminars that deal with everything from planning career objectives to field specific interviewing techniques.

Evaluation
The programme follows the trimester pattern and the evaluation is continuous, which encompasses both internal and external assessments. Every student is required to score a minimum of 50% in both internal and external assessments for the successful completion of the programme. The external assessment consists of group activities like case presentations, project presentations, quizzes etc. evaluated by a panel of eminent academicians and professionals from the industry.

Career Management

At DoMS we adopt a Mentor-Prodigy relationship programme. The objective of the MBA programme is to create a balance between functional background and future career orientation. Career management includes team building skills, presentation skills and laboratories on personality development.
